Nathan Childers, a student at the University of West Georgia was awarded a $2,000 for Fine Art from the Frederic Whitaker and Eileen Monaghan Whitaker Foundation. In his student statement he wrote:
“Over the past two years I have been pleased to have the opportunity to return to my first love, art, by continuing my studies at the University of West Georgia (UWG) as a nontraditional adult student. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s of Fine Art with a focus on painting from the Department of Art. Prior to Fall 2018, having taken my last formal art class at Snead State Community College in 1995, I was out of the university art loop. Since then, I have returned to my passion with a more mature perspective than in previous years. I am committed to furthering my understanding of materials and processes in watercolor.”
