“Art has been such an important part of my life ever since I was a child. While I love many different art media, I have always gravitated towards painting. I am very passionate about painting, and I love trying out different types and techniques. However, by far my favorite is watercolor.
I usually include a lot of nature themes in my art. Some common subjects in my art are plant life, insects, and animals, but more specifically, flowers, moths, and cats. I also love horror and surrealism, so I sometimes like getting a little creepy and strange with my art. I especially love creating my own characters and stories, and I think it would be really cool to create my own comic one day.
I have some educational objectives. One thing that I enjoyed in a watercolor painting class I took is creating works that relate to each other, like a series. In this class, I first created a painting of a deer with large antlers shedding its velvet. There are anemone flowers and moths on its antlers. And then, later in the semester, I painted a deer’s skull, also with moths and flowers. I like that they reference each other while still standing on their own, and I would like to explore creating series paintings more. I have also been exploring compositions with a lot of detail and trying to make my paintings look busy with little surprises littered throughout it.“
