“Throughout my entire life, I have explored different ways of making art. I have tried mediums like pencils, markers, watercolor, and more. A couple of years ago I discovered watercolor and I felt that I found something I truly enjoyed; it was easy to use, and accessible. I started with a cheap pallet and enjoyed it enough to move on to a better-quality set. Now seven years later I have also discovered gouache and thoroughly enjoy it. It has the flow and ease of watercolor with an oil paint-like quality that I enjoy. I use watercolor in all of my personal pieces, even if it will end up being a gouache painting.
My objectives would be to take classes and have opportunities that allow me to become a book cover or kids’ book illustrator. Even as a kid I was inspired by illustrations in kids’ books and covers of novels. I think a good cover can be important to the story and help paint a picture of what’s to come.”
